About Vane Hill

At Vane Hill, we specialise in supporting people living with Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD), including Korsakoff’s syndrome and related conditions. Located in two peaceful Victorian houses above the harbour in Torquay, our home blends character, comfort and clinical expertise. Whether someone needs more intensive support or is working towards greater independence, our care is always personalised, respectful and rooted in enabling as much control and quality of life as possible. Our aim is that every resident feels safe, valued, and that Vane Hill truly becomes their home.

Our Values at Vane Hill Care Home

Respectful Enablement

We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity. Respectful enablement means offering support without taking over. We help rebuild confidence and skills, whether that’s cooking, gardening, maintaining routines or managing personal care in ways that honour what each individual can do and gently support where extra help is needed. Feeling valued and having a say matters.

Safety and Well-Being

Residents at Vane Hill benefit from a secure, calm home where safety is carefully balanced with freedom. Skilled nurses and carers, regular risk assessments and therapeutic oversight ensure that health, medication, nutrition and emotional wellbeing are all closely monitored. We aim to reduce harm and support people to live as fully as possible, while ensuring clinical needs are met reliably

Community and Growth

People thrive when they feel part of something. At Vane Hill our communal areas, gardens, social activities, shared meals, minibus trips and opportunities to help around the home all encourage connection. We believe in growth, not just in recovery or clinical improvement, but in having meaningful days, developing relationships, learning new tasks and feeling at home in a community
